I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying life as much as you can.
For those of you who have not stayed before, we have eighteen rooms at the beach with stunning views of the sea and outlying islands. Even though we are just a gentle saunter from excellent restaurants, bars and boutiques in this charming village of Bophut, otherwise known as Fisherman’s Village, it is peaceful and relaxing although I have to admit that it can be a little noisy on a Friday evening when the Walking Street sets up. Our guests love it though and often book to get as many Fridays as possible into their holiday. They wear themselves out from shopping, then partake of a liquid refreshment or two at Freedom Bar, a great place to relax and listen or even sing and dance to the live reggae music.
We’ve had a great November here. The weather has been really hot and sunny and our guests have had a great time. Today, however, is rather a different story. Torrential rain abounds which should last around three days. Well, the island needed the water, that’s for sure. However, I had to take off my shoes to walk across to the hotel as the road was flooded. The back of my shirt was sodden too by the time I arrived even though I had an umbrella and the journey took only a few seconds. I quickly retrieved a spare hairdryer and rectified the situation, giving our little Leo, (our Yorkshire Terrier), a quick burst of hot air too as he had been hiding under my arm on the way over. I’m still sitting here with bare feet which probably doesn’t seem unusual on a paradise island, but when the thunder is crashing, the lightening is flashing and the rain is beating down, it does seem rather unusual.
We’ve been making some changes to our workload. Now that we often use agents, there’s always work to be done to keep them all up to date. Well, we have now become automated which has made my life a lot easier, I can tell you. Also, quite soon, you will be able to book direct on our website, if you wish. We have always maintained that we like to give our guests a personal service which entails e-mails going back and forth, but as people are on the move more and more and using their devices, it makes sense to give them an immediate service. So, we’re pleased about that and hope you will be too. We are still here for bookings, questions, help, a chat, in fact anything by e-mail, but it’s not absolutely necessary. Also, we are having an automated management system too. If any of you have seen Robin’s huge bookings book, you will be amazed to know that this is on the way out! Not quite yet, you understand, but I am working on it by giving his arm a tiny twist on a daily basis. I have the new system up and running and just have to convince him that it will make his life so much easier. It will also have other benefits too as we become more adept at it. All these systems are linked and thus all the information is bang up to date. So, three huge differences to our life. And the guy who has helped us lives on the island. His name is Jeff Wolf and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anybody who needs any similar help or indeed any marketing help. He is very good and the nicest of guys too. Thank you Jeff for all your help and advice.

Going through our bookings, it is heartwarming to see so many return guests coming to see us yet again in January and February and quite a few for a month too. The trouble is that the clock seems to tick extra quickly during that period. I shall have to have a word with our maintenance staff to see if they can slow it down.
