1 November 2016

Hi Everyone!

Here we are again and it’s almost November. Wow!

We’ve been quite quiet in the hotel this month, but those guests who stayed, for example Kevin and Matt, said that they loved it. They had both been working so hard in the UK and found their stay totally relaxing even though they went on lots of trips and sampled many great restaurants. They especially loved Chez Francois and wished they could take Francois home with them to open a restaurant in the UK. They reckon that they’d be able to retire in ten years! Luckily for us, Francois is staying here. I look forward to my next wonderful meal there.

Recently, Robin, our daughter Charlotte and I went to Sereena, a new restaurant in Maenam, about ten minutes away by car from the hotel. It is run by Malcolm and many of you will know him from the old Villa Bianca days. Sereena was very smart and beautifully decorated. The staff were very good indeed and the Asian/Mediterranean food excellent. We enjoyed our visit tremendously and shall certainly go again. A definite on our list of special Samui restaurants. If our guests take a taxi there, Malcolm said that he’d bring them back to the hotel. What service!

Had a fantastic Sunday Brunch at Beach Republic again last week and are going again tomorrow with a few friends and, whilst there, are going to participate in their Escape Break to see if we have what it takes to unlock our way to freedom in a thrilling real life escape game where you have to solve clues and puzzles and really test your wits. If you regularly read my notes, you will know that we did this before with Richie and Nickie and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We’ll be taking a different challenge this time. Actually, Robin and I have decided to spend Christmas Day at Beach Republic as they are offering a fantastic festive menu. We hope to be joined by guests. Would you like to come too?

We’re again painting and repairing or replacing, where necessary, in the hotel. We do this every low season so that the hotel continues to be in tip-top condition for our guests. Our generally peaceful eighteen rooms with our saline pool, bar and gardens, nestle amongst the palm trees right beside the beach of Bophut and excellent restaurants, bars and boutiques are just a saunter away. It is an idyllic setting and the view over the beach, sea and outlying islands is magnificent.

You may like to see a drone video of our little hotel which we have embedded on our website homepage. It was very kindly taken for us by one of our guests, Scott Herbert of Aerial Focus UK.

If you’re thinking of staying, send Robin an e-mail on robin@thewaterfrontbophut.com or complete the form on the bookings page of our website. He’ll write back straightaway with our availability.

We’d love to see you!

Until the next time, take very good care of yourselves and come and see us soon. But just read below:

Best wishes

PS: Okay. So, last week, we were jauntily walking along the street beside the sea, arm in arm and, having enjoyed a couple of drinks at least, felt on top form.

“SEXY, SEXY!” We looked to our left and saw a handsome young Thai leaning against a palm tree staring straight at us, a hopeful look in his eyes.

Although those words were no doubt directed at my daughter, I decided to dream that perhaps a small percentage could be attributed to me. I felt confident. Empowered even.

“And YOU look sexy too!” I called back, laughing and happy with myself.

“MUM!” A remonstrative monotone left my daughter’s lips in disgust.

My head swivelled around. She sighed heavily.

“Mum”, she said again, obviously consumed with acute embarrassment. “He actually said, ‘taxi, taxi’ . . . “
