1 May 2017

Wow! April certainly zoomed by! It’s been a beautiful month with just two or three days of rain. We’ve had some fantastic guests, some of whom have been many times before and some for the first time. I can honestly say that all of them have enjoyed their stay and many have booked for next year or are planning to book. This is great news and hopefully an encouragement to prospective guests.

For those of you who do not know our little hotel, we have eighteen rooms right at the beach. Our view of the sea and outlying islands is stunning. To have that as a backdrop is worth a million dollars, well, more actually. You can lie on a sun bed on the beach and admire it, you can lie on a comfy chair with a footstool around the pool or in the gardens and admire it, you can eat at a table on the decking and admire it, you can sit at the outside bar and admire it, you can sit in reception and admire it, (we even have a huge mirror there whose sole purpose is to proudly reflect it), or sit on the balcony of your room and admire it. It is essentially one of the most important pluses of this hotel. It is magnificent. We really are at the waterfront.

Also, we are at the peaceful end of Bophut Fisherman’s Village so it’s hugely relaxing here, except on a Friday evening when Walking Street takes precedence. A myriad of stalls line the street selling a host of wares and the whole operation is well organised and very popular indeed. Also, when all the shopping is done and food eaten, many of our guests love to frequent The Freedom Bar across the street until around 1am where there is some fantastic live reggae music. I have been known to visit it myself on more than one occasion . . .

Jack was here recently with Annie and their friends, Sue & Geordie. Poor Jack wasn’t well when he returned home and had to be hospitalised – no, it wasn’t our menu! The great news is that he’s home now and doing really well. We are over the moon as Jack is a wonderful guest. He is really, really kind, (a huge plus in my book), and his laughter is so infectious! I can hear him now. We very much look forward to seeing them all again next year, if at all possible.

Alison & Mark have arrived again. They love their holidays here, but also enjoy travelling around Europe and the USA on their motorbike. They have been very happy partners for fifteen years, but out of the blue, on Christmas Day, Mark popped the question. Last week they married and are now here again, but on honeymoon this time. We wish them many, many years of happiness together. They’re a fantastic couple and I was so pleased to hear their news. Am just waiting to see some photos.

We receive a huge amount of bookings through agents, all of whom charge exactly the same as us incidentally, and we are very thankful for their input. However, we do still prefer to receive bookings direct as we are able to build up a relationship with the guests, answer questions more easily, make detailed explanations and are, therefore, far more in tune with their requirements. We feel we already know them when they arrive! Either book direct on the Book Now page of our website or send us your prospective dates by clicking on the ‘contact us’ key on the same page or sending us an e-mail to robin@thewaterfrontbophut.com. Robin will then write straight back with our availability.

We have also received lots of great 5-star reviews on Trip Advisor which also affect prospective guests when they’re deciding to stay and we thank our past guests so much for taking the time and trouble to post. If any of you have been to stay and have forgotten to post, we should very much appreciate your kindness in this way as it really does help.

Don’t forget that we are offering a 10% discount on rooms booked to stay between the dates of 1 May and 30 June 2017 and between 1 September and 21 December 2017. Flights will no doubt be less expensive then and the island less busy too.

We hope that you will come to see us very soon. You are as welcome as the flowers in May, (Charles Macklin, Irish actor & dramatist, 1690-1797).

Until the next time, take good care of yourselves.

Best wishes
